First, Paul tells us to pray for all saints. The Body of Christ is intricately connected regardless of where it is stationed in the world. When you pray for other believers, even those whom you do not know, you will be strengthening prayers for people that you do not know, you will reap prayers from people that you do not know.

Secondly, we are exhorted to pray for our point men. Leaders are prone to experience attacks that many believers never face. For this reason, we pray for them regularly because they can have an outsized impact on others!

1 Peter 5:7 NKJV

“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”

I’ve prayed this many times, and once I give my burden to God, I refuse to let it eat on me again. This is the significance of the word “cast.” We throw, or roll, our care to the Lord and refrain from picking it up. If He is doing something about it, why should I worry?

Christ instituted a new type of prayer for the New Testament church known as the Prayer of Agreement. This type of prayer is for those who operate in shared authority. A good example is the prayer offered by a husband and wife, or two business partners.

The Prayer of Petition is a request for a very specific answer. It is offered by a supplicant who is beset with dire circumstances and is expressing utter reliance on God.

The Prayer of Authority is offered with a great sense of confidence because of the known will of God.
